Bosham is one of those places that feels untouched by time. This historic Saxon village in West Sussex, where King Canute supposedly tried to turn back the tide, has a unique charm that's amplified when the harbour fills at high tide. I'd been planning this shot for weeks, waiting for a clear evening when the tide would be high enough to create perfect reflections.
That June evening delivered beyond expectations. As the sun began to set over Chichester Harbour, the entire sky transformed into warm amber and gold. The calm water became a flawless mirror, perfectly reflecting the quaint village buildings, the ancient church, and the boats moored along Bosham Quay. This is actually a panorama created from 15 individual images, stitched together to capture the full sweep of the scene—from one end of the village to the other.
What makes Bosham special for photography is this sense of tranquillity and timeless beauty. The village has remained largely unchanged for centuries, and standing there at the water's edge, watching the golden light paint across both sky and water, it felt like stepping into a painting. The symmetry created by the reflection adds a magical quality, as if there are two Boshams—one real, one dreaming.
When you look at this photograph, I want you to feel that same sense of peace I experienced—the gentle lapping of water, the warmth of the setting sun, and the quiet beauty of one of Sussex's most picturesque coastal villages.
