I had this image in mind for some time—waiting for the sun to rise in perfect alignment with Worthing Pier. I tracked the date in advance and arrived early, positioning myself well back along the beach to use a long lens and compress the perspective. The result is a glowing orb of light nestled within the pier’s structure, a brief moment of symmetry that only happens on a few days each year. It’s one of those shots that rewards planning, patience, and a bit of luck with the weather.
I love how the silhouetted form of the pier contrasts with the warmth of the rising sun, and how the light spills across the shoreline. It’s a reminder of the changing seasons, and how even familiar locations can surprise you when seen at the right time.
