November mornings on the Sussex coast can be absolutely magical, and this was one of those rare occasions when everything aligned perfectly. I'd arrived at Worthing beach well before sunrise, setting up my tripod in the darkness while a handful of fishing boats bobbed gently in the calm water near the pier.
As the first light began to break on the horizon, the sky transformed into these soft golden and peachy tones. I used a 25-second exposure to capture the gentle movement of the water, creating that smooth, ethereal quality while keeping Worthing Pier and the fishing boats sharp in the composition. The warm light of dawn reflected beautifully off the calm sea, and the fishing boats added a lovely sense of scale and human presence to the scene.
What I particularly love about this image is its quietness. It's not a dramatic, explosive sunrise—it's gentle, peaceful, almost contemplative. The fishing boats remind you that while I'm here photographing, others are already out working, continuing a tradition that's been part of Worthing's character for centuries. There's something grounding about that connection between the natural beauty and the everyday life of a coastal community.
