About This Photo

This photograph was taken in Warnham, West Sussex, after a long and patient wait beside a familiar perch. For nearly three hours, nothing happened. The branch remained empty, the background still, and the quiet stretched on. Then, without warning, the kingfisher arrived.

It landed cleanly on the branch, perfectly positioned, its colours catching the light just long enough for a handful of frames before it disappeared again. Less than a minute later, it was gone, and it didn’t return.

The simplicity of the scene is what defines this image. The gentle curve of the branch leads the eye naturally to the bird, while the soft, featureless background removes all distraction. There’s no sense of urgency or action here—just a brief moment of shared presence, where everything aligned and then quietly moved on.

Kingfishers are famously elusive, and encounters like this are never guaranteed. This image captures not just the bird itself, but the patience, stillness, and quiet anticipation that often precede such fleeting wildlife moments.

A timeless classic, canvas prints are a great way to display your favourite photos. Each photo is printed on 350gsm cotton-polyester canvas, hand-stretched over a 38mm deep frame, and finished with a protective varnish.

Glass

If you want something modern and eye-catching with a real wow factor, glass is the perfect choice. With extraordinary depth and clarity, my work really shines on this medium. Each photo is UV printed to the glass, giving you a vibrant and vivid result.
