There’s a certain kind of quiet that only autumn can bring—a soft, reflective stillness that settles over the countryside. This tree-lined path outside Steyning felt like stepping into another world. The air was cool and calm, and the only sound was the faint rustle of leaves falling gently to the ground. The chestnut trees stood in perfect rhythm, their trunks twisting and leaning as if in conversation, their branches forming a vaulted ceiling of amber light.
I was drawn to the symmetry and the way the fallen leaves carpeted the path, leading the eye into the distance. The light was diffused and golden, wrapping the entire scene in warmth without a hint of harshness. It was one of those rare moments when the landscape seems to breathe slowly, content in its own beauty.
