Stanmer Haze

November mornings in Stanmer Woods can be hit-or-miss, but on the 15th of November everything aligned in a way that felt almost staged. The fog was clinging to the woodland just tightly enough to hold the light, diffusing the sun into these warm, radiant beams that filtered through the tall trunks. As I walked deeper into the woods, the path ahead slowly revealed itself, shifting between shadow and soft gold as the mist drifted through the trees.The fallen leaves created a vivid carpet of copper and red, adding texture and grounding the composition with a sense of late-autumn richness. It felt like walking through a living painting, the kind of moment where the woodland becomes completely transformed.

There was a quiet to the scene too—the kind that only fog brings. Every sound was softened, and the whole woodland felt suspended, as if holding its breath between seasons. Stanmer Haze is my attempt to capture that stillness and warmth: a November woodland filled with gentle light, shifting mist, and the calm that only early-morning autumn can offer.
